The guys and I got to play Warped Tour at our local date this past summer, and got to share the stage with one of my favorite bands, Emarosa. I was looking through old photos, and saw this one I took of the singer after our set.
Taken with Canon 550D/T2i
Kit lens at 55mm
Got a little bored tonight. Had no one to shoot, so I shot myself. How do you like the cut on my head?
Canon 50mm at f/2.5
Flash set up
Nikon SB-600 to the right at 1/32 power thru softbox
Canon 430exII at 1/64 power thru homemade beauty dish
Had a shoot today with Alison. Got some GREAT photos!
She was a real champ. It was around 30 degrees and quite blustery. She was very cold. Usually when I’m shooting someone in the cold, I wear very little as well. I had a pea coat and scarf on, but I took those off and shot in my button up. It strikes me as a nice gesture to the subject, that you’ll freeze with them. I’ve found that it makes people willing to stay out longer, and to try more things even when cold.
Only problem is losing motor function of my fingers!
Kept thinking I was hitting the shutter, but I was hitting my ISO button LOL
I feel accomplished. My first official clients are very happy with the photos so far. I’ll be dropping them off tomorrow. It’s time to get the ball rolling. Big thanks to one of my best friends and inspirations: Carl!
More than a year ago, I was in a very bad place. During that time of personal turmoil, I bought my first dSLR, and began to expand on my passion for photography. A year later, I am here, proud of taking the pain that I felt at the time, and turning it into something worthwhile. It was all a huge lesson in dealing with the curve balls that life throws your way. Who knows what will happen with my “business.” It may never go anywhere but, for now, I’m feeling pretty good.

To find the day is burning the curtains and the wine,
In a little white room.”
